Spring on the mountain
RED, our 2 year old Red Angus bull.
There was not much rain this winter in Ventura County, but we’re finally seeing some grass come up. Our home is in Los Padres Forest, backed by rugged mountains and facing the ocean to the south. Space all around us for our herd of Angus cattle, and small flock of Dorper sheep. It has been a lifelong dream of mine to live in a remote area and to be able to look out of the kitchen window and see my animals. We run 30 head of cattle, supplying fresh organic, grass fed beef for local families, Dorper sheep, for very efficient weed abatement, chickens for fresh eggs and mules for pack trips and pleasure. The garden is full of seasonal fruit and vegetables.
I have been living at the end of this dirt road for 32 years now and it never gets old. Our home operates completely off grid.
